Lori Chen – Chairwoman of the Board
Lori Chen is a former corporate executive and has established her career in the financial services industry for over 21 years. She has extensive wealth management experience with some of the top companies in the U.S., including JP Morgan Chase, HSBC, PNC, MetLife, UBS, and Wells Fargo. Her areas of expertise include business development, team recruitment and development, high net worth client management, and comprehensive financial planning. She holds FINRA Series 7, 9, 10 & 66, and completed the Certified Financial Planner curriculum. She is fluent in Mandarin, and conversant in two Chinese dialects.
Lori is very active in the Asian-Ameircan community and serves as chairwoman of the board at National Association of Asian American Professionals NYC Chapter. She co-founded Asian Mosaic Fund Giving Circle as well as the National Association of Asian American Professionals Philadelphia Chapter. In addition, she served on the Board of Asian American Women’s Coalition, American Cancer Society Asian Advisory Committee, and the Community Advisory Council at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
Lori has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Marketing from DeSales University and a MBA in Marketing from La Salle University. Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, Lori has made NYC her second home.
Kader Me – Board Member
Kader Ma is the Market Executive for Capital One Bank’s Boroughs South Market.
As an advocate for Community Service, Kader participates in various non-profit Organizations, such as Flushing BID, NAAAP NY, Min Kwon Center and CAREA.
Jamie Lu – Board Member
Jamie is currently a Senior Manager in Technology Consulting, with over a decade of experience leading globally diverse teams. He has a BS from the University of Maryland in College Park, and his MBA from the Kellogg School of Business.
Carl Leung – Board Member
Carl Leung, CPA, HCCP, is an Accounting Manager at a not-for-profit organization which develops and manages affordable housing. He is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting and reporting process. Prior to joining Phipps Houses, Inc., Mr. Leung was an auditing manager at a regional accounting firm in New York, NY.
Over the years, Mr. Leung has developed a specialty in serving commercial, residential and affordable housing industries. He is specialized in different types of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions and debt restructurings. His expertise in affordable housing includes working with programs such as the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), Section 8 mark-to-markets, and various federal and state government assisted housing projects.
Mr. Leung has been serving as Treasurer of National Association of Asian American Professional, New York (NAAAPNY) since 2013. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA). He currently serves on the NYSSCPA’s Real Estate Committee. Additional, he is a Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP). A designation for professionals working in the affordable housing industry through Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. Mr. Leung holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in accounting from University at Buffalo. He is licensed to practice public accounting in New York.
Doug E. York – Board Member
Douglas York is the Manager of the Group Functions IT – Corporate Services US. Our team is responsible for business partner relationships with many different parts of the business (Legal, SHER, Chief Risk Office, Transformation Office, etc).
Douglas graduated from Baruch College of the CUNY in 1985 with a BBA in Statistical Analysis degree. Douglas has been with National Grid for over 36+ years covering multiple areas within the company. Departments range from Regulatory, Financial Planning, Marketing, Gas Operations and Performance, Finance and now IT.
Douglas is currently the Chairperson for the Asian Leadership Association (ALA) and has been a board member for 13 out of 15 years since its existence.
Douglas has been involved with Junior Achievement since 1999. He started as a classroom volunteer and within 3 years volunteered to do as many as 7 classes in one school year. He has completed over 100 classes over the past 20+ years. He has co-led the annual bowl-a-thon since 2009 and is one of the main recruiters for volunteers for JA initiatives.
Douglas has been married to Judy for 28+ years and has 3 beautiful daughters, Melissa, Taylor and Samantha.
James Cheng – Board Member
James Cheng is the Global Senior Director and Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion of Zimmer Biomet. He is responsible for the strategy, development, and growth of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Zimmer Biomet and to drive positive impact for the 20,000+ team members in 25+ that services 100+ countries across the globe. Prior to Zimmer Biomet, was the Global Director of Inclusion & Diversity and Talent Acquisition at Gilead Sciences Inc. and formally HR Director of Global Inclusion & Diversity COE Business Resource Groups and Business Development at Cargill Inc. He serves on the Board of Directors for The Asian American Dream and NAAAP New York. He also serves as an advisor to the Board of Directors for NAAAP Minnesota. The recipient of the Top Healthcare Diversity Officers in 2022 and Top 100 Diversity Officers in 2021 by the National Diversity Council, Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Awardee by the Asian American Business Development Center in 2018.
Elaine Sheng – Board Member
Elaine Sheng is a senior consumer insights and brand management executive with extensive experience leading global, domestic, and regional teams. Currently a partner and SVP at Beyond Insights, a consumer research and strategy agency, she has held significant roles at corporations including, Shiseido Americas and L’Oréal USA. Elaine was instrumental in establishing the Global Makeup Center of Excellence at Shiseido Americas and co-led the creation of the Amway Asia Beauty Innovation Center in South Korea. Her international experience, including living and working in Tokyo and Seoul, has enhanced her expertise in global brand strategy. Elaine is also actively involved in AAPI volunteer initiatives, including founding and co-leading the AAPI employee resource group at Shiseido Americas, and serving as the New York Asian Film Foundation Associate Board Co-Chairperson. She holds an MBA from Duke University and a BA from Wellesley College. Elaine is passionate about travel, arts, culture, and mentorship.
David Pan – Board Member
David Pan is Head of the Family Office at RTW Investments, a biotech and life sciences hedge fund. David also serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the RTW Foundation. Prior to joining RTW, David was the Chief Operating Officer of Arcadia Investment Partners, a private equity firm. During his time at Arcadia, he also served as the Chief Financial Officer of the managing partner’s family office and foundation. Prior to Arcadia, David served in senior leadership roles at Maverick Real Estate Partners, a private equity fund manager that invests in commercial real estate credit, and Arbor Realty Trust, a public mortgage REIT. David began his finance career at BlackRock where he spent 10 years in various roles in the real estate debt group. David received a BA in molecular biology from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Tepper School at Carnegie Mellon University.
